Hyatt Andaz 5th Avenue

5th AVENUE
5th Avenue, New York

Andaz 5th Avenue is a uniquely New York hotel that highlights the very best of its locale. Within the limestone and brick façade of the historic 1916 Rogers Peet Building – once a men’s retail store – Tony Chi has created new, open spaces inspired by the high-ceilings and solidity of the city’s pre-war apartments and the serenity of the city on a rainy day. Monumental windows bring in the iconic buildings – such as the New York Public Library and Empire State Building – that surround it. Inside, factory-style sash windows evoke the fashionable Bryant Park neighborhood’s heritage as a retail and design hub, and energetic vermillion paintings by Carlos Capelán and a Nick Hornby sculpture represent the dynamic energy of New York City. Andaz 5th Avenue will feature a restaurant servings dishes created and inspired by foods that come from family farms and purveyors from around the state. The 80-seat bar offers tall communal tables, banquettes and lounge seating, and serves seasonal cocktails and shared small and large plates. The 184 rooms, including 36 one and two-bedroom suites, are inspired by the neighborhood: closets recall the rolling racks of the fashion district, and lights evoke pre-war subway lanterns. Oversized bathrooms of smooth travertine marble have walk-in rain showers, double sinks, relaxing foot baths of black porcelain and products made by legendary New York apothecary, C.O. Bigelow.
